The Colma Fire District was founded in 1925 by a group of neighbors who shared a committment to serving others and and a desire to keep their community safe. Since that time the department has grown into a Paid -On- Call fire department with a compliment of over 36 firefighters, a command officer staff and a department Chief. Our members respond from home or work 24 hrs a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to help those in need. We are currently the only department serving a suburban area in this manner in the entire bay area. Even though we use a different staffing model than other full time career departments around us we still are held to the same response time standards. What this means is that each time we are dispatched for a call which requires a code 3 response (lights and sirens) we have 6 minutes and 59 seconds to arrive on-scene of the location of the incident. We consistently meet this standard time and time again regardless of time of day or other mitigating factors. The reason we are able to meet this same standard as departments where all staff are housed in the station is the committment and passion of our firefighters and officers.
This same committement to excellence and public safety that founded the Colma Fire District in 1925 lives on today through all of our members young and old in a shared desire to help others in their time of need.
